Lucas Yikimpa Chigabatia is a distinguished professional in the realm of Information Technology and Financial Management.

Commencing his career with Unilever Ghana Ltd, he served as the IT Manager for the Lever Brothers Division and later as the Group IT Projects Manager.

He served as the Chief IT Officer at the University of Ghana for eight (8) years during which period there were transformative advancements in the university’s IT infrastructure and services.

He brings a wealth of experience from his thirteen (13) year tenure at AngloGold Ashanti, a global precious metals mining company where he occupied positions such as Business Systems and Database Manager, IT Manager for West Africa, Manager IT for Open Pit Mining and Knowledge and Information Technology Officer for the Africa region.

He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghanaian Academic and Research Network (GARNET) and leads the charge in advancing academic and research networking in Ghana. His role is pivotal in fostering collaboration and innovation within the academic community. His representation on the Board of the Ghana Domain Name Registry is dedicated to the public tertiary institutions of higher education in Ghana, where his invaluable insights and expertise contribute significantly to the strategic initiatives of the Registry.

He holds a master’s degree in computer science from the Kharkiv Institute of Engineering and Economics. Additionally, he earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana Business School. His commitment to continuous improvement is demonstrated by his certification in Transformational Managerial Practices from the University of Cape Town.

He is the Chief Executive Officer and Board member of The Ghanaian Academic and Research Network, a Board Member of the West and Central Africa Research and Education Network, and a Director of Excel Community School.

His multifaceted experience and leadership continue to make a positive impact on the landscape of information technology, education, and Internet accessibility in Ghana.

Beyond his professional roles, he is a fervent advocate for extending and democratizing the Internet for all. His dedication to bridging the digital divide aligns with the mission of the Ghana Domain Name Registry.
